AUBURN, Ala.- Due to not meeting state requirements for candidacy, the City of Auburn has notified Robert Lane McCollum that his name will not appear on the ballot for Ward 8 of the Auburn City Council in the August 25 municipal election.

All candidates for municipal office in Alabama must meet certain basic qualifications according to state law. Included in these requirements is the need to be a qualified elector for the city in which the candidate seeks public office. If a candidate is not registered to vote in the city in which they seek office, that candidate is not a qualified elector and their name cannot be included on the election ballot.

In reviewing the qualifications of municipal election candidates for the 2026 Municipal Elections, Auburn City Clerk/City Manager Megan McGowen Crouch determined that McCollum was not registered to vote in Auburn as of the deadline for election qualification. Because McCollum did not meet this requirement, his name cannot be included on the election ballot.

The following candidates have qualified for the election on August 25:

Mayor: Ron Anders, Jr., Jimmy Glenn, Robert Wilkins

Ward 1:  Connie Taylor

Ward 2:  Kirsten Milenkovitch

Ward 3: Beth Witten

Ward 4: Tyler Adams

Ward 5:  Toshiro Jackson,  Michael “Mike” Menese, Henry G. “Sonny” Moreman

Ward 6:  Bob Parsons

Ward 7: Max Coblentz

Ward 8:  Augustus Ayers, Tommy Dawson

Uncontested candidates — including Ward 1 Councilperson Connie Taylor, Ward 2 Councilperson Kirsten Milenkovitch, Ward 3 Councilperson Beth Witten, Ward 4 Councilperson Tyler Adams, Ward 6 Councilperson Bob Parsons and Ward 7 Councilperson Max Coblentz  — are deemed elected by state law. The current City Council will consider a resolution declaring their election at its July 7 meeting.
